Hikvision 2CD2352-I 5MP

I called up one of the shops recommended from this site looking for Hikvision DS-2CD2342WDi-2.8MM (4MP true WDR) and they told me the just received the DS-2CD2352-I-2.88MM (5MP digital WDR). They stated that it is the US Region/firmware camera. It's not listed on Hikvision's US site; I also called B&H and they do not have it listed yet.

Thoughts?

Yeah, probably true and looks like still using inferior sensor+processor. Still not able to do full 30fps at full resolution

So you would suggest going with the 2342 over the 2352 ?

Based on the spec the only thing you gain is extra 1MP. If they are the same price I would get 5MP just to try it out, but if 5MP is more $$ then it's not worth it IMHO

The other thing to take note of is the aspect ratio which doesn't jump right out at you. I prefer the 16.9 aspect ratio myself.

5MP HikVision
2560 × 1920 = 4.3 aspect ratio
2048 x 1536 = 4.3 aspect ratio
1920 × 1080 = 16.9 aspect ratio (2MP equivalent)

4MP HikVision
2688 x 1520 = 16.9 aspect ratio (4MP)
1920 × 1080 = 16.9 aspect ratio (2MP equivalent)

The 5mp is already available in China and costs double the 4mp cams

It certainly isn't double, as a matter of fact it's about same price as 4MP China cams
