I have a bunch of 3MP hikvision cameras has anyone else upgraded to the 4MP cameras? I was wondering if it would be worth while.

Looks to be better image out of the 4MP.

My 4MP (DS-2CD2142F-IS) (1/2.8" sensor) has a better picture day or night than my 3MP (DS-2CD2132F-IS) (1/3.0" sensor). Its not just the image sensor size in isolation that influences the picture quality but a combination of the technology that goes into the camera. My DS-2CD2385FWD-I (1/2.5" sensor) is a big jump up from either 3MP or 4MP. It would be great if you could get a 1/3.0" size sensor in a 4k 2385 or PTZ tho.

Own there spec pages it says.

DS-2CD2385FWD-I has a 1/2.5" Progressive Scan CMOS
DS-2CD2142FWD-ISB has a 1/3" progressive scan CMOS
DS-2CD2342WD-I has a 1/3" progressive scan CMOS

So some of the cams that are now 4MP have the same size sensor as before but some are listed at 1/2.8" Progressive Scan CMOS like the DS-2CD2442FWD-IW that i just bought which looks way better than my 3MP DS-2CD2032-I which going by the spec sheet has a 1/3" progressive scan CMOS.

If they turned the contrast down a bit on both it would help reveal the shadow detail.
