Hikvision 7604: Get cameras on home LAN?

I currently have 4 2032s connected to a 7604. This is assigning them 192.168.254.x . My home LAN is 192.168.1.X. This means that the cameras work just fine via the 7604, but I would like to be able to access them via the browser, and via the iVMS 4200 Desktop client. Is there no way to do this? I tried changing the ethernet port NIC to something in 192.168.1.X, but it gives me a conflict every time. I am confused why they would require me to place the cameras in a different network than my home network and the NVR itself.... I guess what I need to be able to do is bridge from .254.X to .1.X. Anybody know if this is possible?

Turn virtual host on if your NVR has that option.

Re: Can't access IP Cams through NVR NIC....

I can type in the IP of my NVR (7608NI) and it will let me log in then after that it shows the camera stuff. I can't really test this since I am having my own problems connecting these cameras from ebay..

Assure virtual host is enabled within the 7604 settings. Once this is done you can access them via your NVR address followed by :6500X where X is port/nic/cam 1 and so on. So for example if you nvr is 192.168.1.100 then camera 1 would be 192.168.1.100:65001

Good Luck

Hey I have a 7608 box which basically like oguruma's. I see this option after connecting to the nvr via laptop,

I tried to enable and it is telling me ports conflict. How do I fix that?

You should be able to simply enable it without populating the camera drop down or entering the host port info - just simply enable the check box. Not sure why your flow control is enabled

Re: Can't access IP Cams through NVR NIC....

Ahah! That did the trick. Now, can anybody answer why on God's green earth they set up the PoE NIC to have a different subnet?

Re: Can't access IP Cams through NVR NIC....

To isolate the camera traffic within the NVR network and not broadcast IP traffic in your LAN.

There are various ways to do this.
The simplest way is to enable 'Virtual Host' if this is available on the specific firmware version of your NVR, under Advanced Network settings.
If this is available and enabled, 'IP forwarding' (not to be confused with port forwarding) becomes active between the PoE interface and the LAN interface of the NVR.
All you need then is to add a new route on the default gateway on your LAN, usually your ISP router. The new route should direct all traffic for the 192.168.254.0/24 network to the NVR LAN interface.
Depending on how much of a network techie you are, there is some info here: https://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthrea...l-host-or-extra-wiring?highlight=extra+wiring
With Virtual Host active there is no need to change the HTTP port of the cameras away from 80, or to manually alter the IP forwarding settings within the NVR.

^^^^^ that! First, the ability for virtual port makes the need to have everything on the same subnet pointless - that's the point in virtual port. Second it keeps all network video traffic contained in the device. Some situations where people are not comfortable with networking but want to remove all cam traffic from the network because of conflicts or congestion the NVR does this very simply vs requiring the user to customize there IPs or add additional routing/switch equipment.

@oguruma please don't duplicate posts in multiple areas... This causes people to do twice the work... You caused all star to produce a detailed answer and waste time answering something you posted in multiple places and got detailed answers to 10 hours ago and even resolved 10 hours ago. Keep that in mind in the future please vs. being impatient and posting the same thing in multiple threads.

Yes indeed - after I posted the above I found the other a bit later, so a bit of a waste of time.
Fortunately it doesn't happen very often.

This forum is growing and growing, so it can be hard to find something that you remember existed but not where.
Something that would probably help is a more effective search facility.
I don't know what tuning options there are - but I find that the Advanced Search just doesn't work well at all, and the standard search returns too much.

@Mike said the other day they are working on a new design/code and its currently in testing on the development server. Hopefully this rolls soon and includes some of these improvements as well.

Sorry for the double post.

Now, iVMS 4200 can "see" the cameras on the network, but I am not able to stream from them, given that they are on a different subnet. How would I go about streaming the cameras live? Or, for that matter, adding the NVR as a server? When I used a Windows box as an NVR using the iVMS storage server, iVMS 4200 would "find" the Windows box with no problem. Now, iVMS won't find the NVR, even though it is on the same subnet.... Anybody ever set this up before? This is the case for both the Windows and the OSX client I have tried.

Open IVMS and when in control panel you should see

Device Management
Now "Add" your new device
Give it a Nickname "Home"
Address - The IP address of YOUR NVR - NOT any of the cameras
Port - Default it 8000
User - admin
Password - your password

Leave Export to Group checked

Now that this is all complete you can go into Main View you'll see a folder showing the device Nickname you provided a minute ago, then all your connected cameras should show under that.

Now you can watch everything live.
