I found out that Hikvision has two version sensors for AcuSense DS-2CD2386G2-I.

Version 1:
1/2" Progressive Scan CMOS
Min. Illum.: Color: 0.014 Lux @ (F1.6, AGC ON), 0 Lux with IR
This version I found in local provider.
https://www.maxalarm.sk/obchod_homedir/data/2617/prilohy/DS-2CD2386G2-IU.pdf

Version 2:
1/1.8" Progressive Scan CMOS
Min. Illum.: Color: 0.003 Lux @ (F1.6, AGC ON), 0 Lux with IR
https://www.hikvision.com/en/products/IP-Products/Network-Cameras/acusense-series/ds-2cd2386g2-i-u-/

My questions:
  • Why Hikvision have two different sensor? (Different markets/price?)
  • Please do you have idea how to recognize this better (second) version? (base on SerialNumber?)

I think you are mixing some names and specs..

"G2" at the end of the product name means it's second generation, otherwise you will see "G1" at the end of the product name.

2386G2 is a turret camera while 2086g2 is a mini bullet camera.

PS: 2386G2 also has a 1/1.8" sensor, don't know where you see it has a 1/2" sensor?

PS2: The new ColorVu G2 series also has acusense build in so maybe take a look at these? They have incredible low light performance.

Sorry my mistake, I am talking about turret ds-2cd2386g2-i . (I copied a wrong link)

Specification for 1/2" sensor I found in different local provider, as example: (pdf in attached file)

Yes should be a mistake in documents, or the first version of 2CD2386G2 was really with 1/2" sensor ?(2019)

Could be, never heard of it, but if you want to be sure, ask your reseller if he has the 1/1.8" version.

Yes, I have experience with ColorVU G1 - I have 3 cam 2cd2347G1(2x4mm 1x6mm), but this new G2 version looks better.
But still a some cons are here - 2cd2347G2 has low DORI ( I=2m...2,8mm).

Better option should be 8mpix 2CD2087G2-L with 1/1.2″ sessor, but with issue not optimal depth of focus:
2.8 mm: 4.5 m to ∞
4 mm: 7 m to ∞
6 mm: 13 m to ∞

Yes the large sensor puts the focus point further away, I'm struggling with the same issue. I have 4mm version of the new ColorVu Gen2 8MP and it's fine but for some situations I would like the 6mm, for example drive way where the image does not need to go very wide but the 13m DOF scares me, that's a lot! The 4MP version of the ColorVu Gen2 (2CD2047G2) has a 1/1.8" sensor, same low light performance but due to the smaller sensor the focus point is also closer by..
