Hikvision and Firefox. Fix found yet?

Personally, I'm mystified about all this jumping through hoops to get Firefox to work with IP cams.

Heck, go download & install Palemoon x86 / 32 bit browser as @tangent recommended in post #2 above and be done with it...use it with the cams, use any other browser on this earth to do everything else but cams if you like. At least try it and if you don't like it then go back to the hoop jumpin'....won't cost you but a few minutes to try it.

That’s how I feel about IE. Just use it for the cams, then whatever you want for the rest!

Ah, so maybe it is trying to stream multiple cameras all at once and could be running into some kind of memory limit.

Perhaps. Regardless, it is completely repeatable. 32 bit version of latest Pale Moon, nothing else installed in the browser, running the plugin it prompted me to install.

Running the quad split by logging into the NVR, I can view any two of my 2MP cameras, but adding a third or just opening the 4MP one if one other is open causes the plugin to crash immediately (according to the pop-up window I get).

I can open up individual tabs for each camera, and that works fine - I can have four open tabs with the four cameras. But the quad dies instantly with more than two images loaded.

I have 16GB of memory, but a 32 bit program can only use a fraction of that, and the advice was to not install the 64 bit version of Pale Moon. I'm using IE 11 at the moment, and that seems to work OK.

Plugin and browser must target the same architecture. The plugin is 32 bit, so you have to use a 32 bit browser.

What substream resolution are you using? In theory it should pull the substream on a split screen view.

It doesn't seem to matter whether I'm using the main higher resolution stream, or the lower rez substream. The main stream is 1920x1080 on the 2MP cameras, and 2688 x 1520 on the 4MP ones.


The substream is much lower rez, but I don't know what it is. It crashes the plugin just the same.

Hi All,

After hours and hours of failing to get my cameras working on any browser, I finally just downloaded bluestacks and ran the app(Hik Connect) via the bluestack software, I can now view all my cameras on a windows pc. Hope this helps with anyone having these same issues.

I know this thread is pretty old. Given all the discussion of other browsers to access Hikvision cameras, and the fact I own several of them, I thought I would share particular details to my situation. The browser interface is the nicest one that i have found for setting them up.

I had zero issue using a web interface with the Hikvision cameras until some nameless update to chrome. I tried seamonkey NPAPI, palemoon, IE tab and bunch of others. I got the best results with palemoon 28.9.3, it kind of worked but it had its issues too. The first problem I had was that the camera view shifted positions in the browser such that it obstructed screen controls. That was fixed by displaying only the navigation and bookmarks tool bars in palemoon. The next problem I needed to sort out was that one model of camera worked fine, the other did not. I had to downgrade the firmware of the camera that did not to get it to work. Trust me, lots and lots of time was spent to get the two simple answers that solved my problems. I will details my camera models below and the actions I took with each to get them working.

As a side note, I also use MyIPcam plugin for chrome to have instant access to a live view. It's nice because I don't have windows in my house that afford me that view of my driveway.

Hopefully this helps someone who is struggling to find an answer that actually works.

The cameras that were accessed using Palemoon alone were DS-2DE2A404IW-DE3 using firmware 5.5.16 (the latest as of this post, it is attached.

The cameras that required the firmware downgrade were DS-2CD2742FWD-IZS, downgrade to firmware 5.5.0 from 5.5.53, this should also be attached to this post.

Hadn't heard of MyIPcam plugin before. Thanks.

I've installed it and started configuring it, and it found the 4 LaView cameras connected to my NVR, but will not find the quad split of the four, which shows up fine in the IE browser.

The four cameras individually have addresses and ports, which I entered and it found, but the quad's display in IE does not have a port designation, just the address 10.56.x.x/doc/page/preview.asp. No matter how I enter that, it won't see the quad split. Any ideas, or was it just not meant to be?

I may have more questions after playing with it for a bit.

Well, turns out there's a plugin for Firefox, my preferred browser, so set that up. Seems a bit finicky in how it displays which cameras when, but over all it seems to have settled into displaying all 4 in a tab, which was what I wanted. I sent him the $3.50 upgrade fee. An awful lot of work went into the thing for $3.50.
