Hikvision AR234-8 DVR admin password reset issues..

Hello! I have a Hikvision AR324 DVR that I need to reset the password on. I recently just created a small business, and the former owners left their whole security system behind, including the DVR. I have tried to contact them several times to see if they know the password, but nonetheless, they always say "oohhh I don't know we lost it a couple months back." Whenever I try to use the SADP tool, my DVR does show up, but whenever I use the key that was given to me, I just get either "Failed to reset password: 2022 Other" or "Failed to reset password: Device denied." Can anyone help me? As I'm not looking to buy another DVR at the moment.

By whom?
If Hikvision, maybe get back to them with the result of applying it and see what they say.
My understanding is that the DVR needs to be left powered on after the SADP 'lost password' file is exported until you are sent the unlock key file.

Presumably you have tried the old defaults of 12345 and 123456789abc - though I'm not sure if these apply to DVRs as well as the cameras.

If you try a telnet session to the DVR IP address - is there any response?
