I found this Youtube video and I'm guessing it probably originated from someone who is active here?

I would like to know if it is still considered accurate? I noticed that uPnP was not disabled in the video and yet I thought the consensus here was that uPnP was too much of a security risk.

UPnP should be disabled it's a huge security risk and you don't need it at all for Blue Iris... I have removed the link

Oh, I thought it seemed like a helpful video except for not knowing if it was accurate or not. The uPnP idea seemed wrong.

There is nothing special you need to do..just match the iframe interval to the fps....dont overthink it. Disable all cloud or platform options.

Well, the first trick is to figure out that you need to use the SADP tool and then IE !!! Then there are lots of settings in there. For some reason I could not get BI to display the real-time image even though I could see it in IE. This is a Hik mini-dome. I don't know what I changed but I finally got BI to display the image. It still doesn't look right in a dark room. The night vision is terrible. I can see the IR leds glowing red but I can only see a few feet. I am powering the camera on a cheap PoE switch. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075G2PM17/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You dont need to use the sadp tool and that has nothing to do with blue iris setup.
The blue iris help file explains how to add a camera. It is simple and straight forward.
Domes suffer from IR reflection if not properly installed. You dont state the model, you dont post an image of what you are seeing and how the camera is mounted.

Well, I didn't have much luck with BI camera auto-discovery, however the SADP seemed to find them. This mini-dome is a DS-2CD2132F-IS 2.8mm in like new condition but it has been sitting in a box for years. Date on label is 12/2014 and V5.2.5_141201. The poor IR image is just my initial impression as it sits there on the table. I realize I can probably buy some sort of external IR illuminator to get a better night image.

I really need to read through the BI help. Is it perhaps available online or as a PDF? Thanks.

You are confused. Blue iris cannot discover cameras if they are on a different subnet. For that you need to know the default ip and manually change the pc ipv4 address to hit the camera and make the adjustments. Or you can use sadp (for hikvision products) but it is not needed.
The camera is a dome - it will always suck.
