Hi guys,

We have installed 2 Hikvision camera's on our construction site, 4mp and 2mp, we have to monitor it at least 9 hours a day from a different location.
We connected a 4g device with it for live view, now i have noticed that the camera's are consuming at least 15gb data daily which is way too high to afford.

The 4mp camera is installed for recording a time lapse video as well as for monitoring, 2mp is for monitoring only.
Can anyone guide how we can reduce the data consumption without loosing much of the resolution?

It all comes down to the bitrate that results from the video configuration settings.
Use the most data-efficient codec that the cameras have available, h.265 or Hikvision's h.265+ if possible.
If the scene is fairly static, VBR vs CBR will reduce data consumption.
Keep the framerate down, say 15fps, so you can get the best image quality out of a given bitrate.
Live view the substream and record the main stream locally so you can review any events of interest.
