Are you relying entirely on built in leds or there is street lighting as well? In my testing with good street lights I can do 1/100 easily and no ghosting or blur. Not even using built in leds.

There is some street lighting but not that much, did not activate the LED's because I'm waiting for a firmware upgrade where the LED's can be controlled with motion detection, that way I don't need to have them on the whole night. I will try to slow it down to 1/50 or 1/25 just to see if the ghosting stops .. but I'm pretty sure that will introduce blur.

Looks like the camera will show up today. Fast shipping by Andy.I will post up some pictures once I get the camera mounted. I will be moving it a couple of feet for a better angle. The camera it is replacing is a Hikvision 2MP 8-32mm varifocal. It is not a bad camera and is the last one of it type that I have not upgraded until now.
Apart from the one issue in this thread, I've never heard a bad word said about Andy. His cameras always seem to deliver and the shipping is always fast and communitive. On the whole he also seems to offer good after support.
Looks lovely and bright. However, looking at the car I'm wodnering if this is the 1/12th default? Would eb interesting to see it at 120th night and 1/250 - 1/500 day.

It is probably the default setting. I will look into changing it. Thank you for the advice. I have also adjusted the saturation to get rid of the yellow in the picture.

Here is a night video with the shutter speed set at 1/120. Also the saturation has been adjusted to get rid of the yellow from street light. I will continue to tweak the camera. The vehicles are much less blurry and the people walking do show up pretty good with no ghosting. Edit: As I write this the video is not yet in 4K, only 1080.
Largest image sensor on a Hikvision product is 1/1.2" iamge sensor.
There are surveillance cameras that use 43.3mm full frame image sensors that are also used in Hassleblad digital still cameras.

The biggest Dahua sensor is the 4/3" and it comes on this PTZ. DH-SD8A820WA-HN A few of us has bought it and it does excellent work at night.

Best picture I've seen was from the Sony VB770, now discontniued. I'm guessing the price was too high for most. That used a full frame 35mm. TBH, when you look at the Sony, I ee no use for anything larger in physical size, assuming yoiu can achieve the performance at a high enough shutter.
Hopefully, some of these 35mm sensors might filter their way down to CCTV. I know Panasonic has several good low light photographic cameras. I have heard a rumour that Sony keeps the best sensors for it's own camers though. Lets hope it eventually repurposes the senosr from the VB770 to cctv sensor sales. I'd guess they probably need to find another use for it as it's probably unlikley they recovered their development costs from the sales of the VB770 due to the high cost and nich product slot.

The problem I am running into is that the 4K cameras are maxing out my NVRs. Looks like I will have to get another NVR just to handle the 4K cameras. A Hikvision 16 port NVR can handle four 4K cameras without problems, maybe one more depending on the frame rate.
Hello,. I had a packaged Lorex box that came with 8 * 4K Cameras I.e this package Lorex 8 Channel 2TB NVR with 8 x 4K Ultra HD Smart Deterrence Security Cameras | Costco UK. All 8 cameras were running a 4K 15FPS without issues. I now have a nvr5216-16p-4ks2e which is running 7 * 4K cameras at 15 FPS and 2 * Dahua 5MP cameras running at 25 FPS, I am not seeing any issues ?. I don't like the Dahua interface one bit and I find the fan noisy but it seems to be handling the load fine. Not sure if screenshot one implies I have 282 out of 328 MB spare or I have used 282 out of 328 ? But I think it is 282 spare as screenshot 2 implies I am only using around 53Mb's.

Actually the problem seems to be when it reverts to the substream in my 16 window display. The picture freezes up. When I open it up to full size and in the mainstream everything is fine. I need to check it out at the NVR itself and see if it is doing it there or just on my PC with the Hikvision IVMS-4200 interface.
When I read the specifications of the NVR it say it will take 16 cameras at 1080 or 1K. This is like at 30fps. So if my cameras are set at 15fps does that mean 16 cameras at 2K or 4MP?

Hello, I would take it as you say, for example mine says 4 @ 4K 30 FPS. So I would expect 8 @ 4K 15FPS etc.
Something that may help I discovered from a previous Lorex Box which was having issues displaying all 8 channels at 4K 15 FPS. If you adjust the bitrate a bit down, at a set point the issue goes away. You have to have a play around to see how low you have to go to achieve this but start by adjusting 1 camera down 1 scale and keep adjusting each camera down 1 scale until situation is resolved. When I got the new NVR I upped all the bitrates to max as it could cope with more. When I got my new NVR I did ask about this as I was expecting to be able to do all 16 cameras at 4K 15FPS but I was told I was dreaming as no NVR could handle that. I expect someone from the forum will say 'BI' can

. I expect someone from the forum will say 'BI' can I can tell you that I have Hikvision DS-7616NI-I2/16P version for 5 years now. It handles now 6 4k Hikvision G2 cams, 1 Dahua 4k and couple 5MP cams. All record with at max fps 8mbps some motion only others always record. No issues. Hikvision keeps releasing updates. I don't see any reason to update yet.
