Is it more secure to use Hikvision DDNS than the Hikconnect cloud service?

Or is the security risk the same?

With HiDDNS you need to open ports on your router, leaving your NVR accessible to the outside world for anyone to come kncking on your door. A strong password would suggest that it should not be a problem, but bugged firmwares suggest that just by leaving your device accessible there might actually be ways to get in, no matter what password you use. Changing ports will only make it harder for someone to find your device, but it will not make it impossible.

With Hikconnect you will not need to open any ports, but you will need to let Hikvision inside your network. And do you trust them enough to do so? I am sure many people around here do not.

Each one has its "pros" and "cons", you need to know what you are dealing with. What everyone will tell you is that setting up a VPN is the safest bet, and making sure your unit is not accessible from the outside world, and can not access the outside world.
