This seems like a good place to ask the staff if they know what exposure time Hik uses to generate their color light lux spec. Also, 30 IRE? I would hope Hik has been consistent in their cameras, at least over the past few years with the new lower light performance, but no way to compare directly to other brands without exposure time and IRE number. I did a couple searches of the forum and found nothing.

Ummm, I'm referring to the fact that Dahua, for example, spells out the exposure time and 30 IRE in their light specs, where Hikvsion does not list these 2 items. I'm not measuring anything on IP cameras other than doing some visual Hik to Hik model comparisons. I don't own any Dahuas, so I have no idea how Dahua might be doing things differently. I do know that's it's common for one company to do things one way, and then another does things differently such that merely reading the specs does not give an accurate comparison.

@Chris BC Generally, you cannot compare minimum illumination specifications across camera manufacturers. We have tested hundreds of camera models over many years and it is clear that different manufacturers use varying methods to compute these specification (some more honest than others), e.g., see Don't Trust Lux Ratings Specifically, IRE cannot be measured for IP video feeds so I would ignore that.

Net/net, you need to test head to head to know who is better. Going based on the specification is a gamble, at best.
