Hikvision Died - Vertical Installation Advice?

Hi all,

After some general advice regarding installation - I have a Hikvision DS-2CD2387G2-LSU/SL that's around 4 years old.

It suffered water ingress and now unfortunately seems to have died completely.

I installed it myself so I am entirely responsible if this is an incorrect install (pictured below). Neither the seller or Hikvision are interested in helping because of this, so I want to make sure I get this right when I replace the camera next.

The camera is oriented this way because it's aimed at a long narrow driveway so this orientation suits it better. RJ45 water seal was used. Inside soffit seems dry when I removed the camera. I presume the primary issue is the orientation of the camera, but what's the correct way to install if I want this orientation?

If you did not use DiElectric Grease in the Rj45 connection, then that is most likely the problem.
You may try some contact cleaner such as Deoxit on both the female and the male RJ45s, that might solve the issue.
Make certain the cable leading from the camera into the soffit, is not situated so water can travel along the wire and get into the RJ45.

And along with the connection as @looney2ns pointed out, once set Id use some clear silicone sealant all around possible water ingress points. Every seam gets a thin smear of it on mine

Possible it came in around the lens cover. Some guys seal that edge as well

Thanks for the replies.

The initial problem is the water is inside the lens itself, which you can see if you zoom in. I tried drying out the camera a few months ago when it got too bad and also checked the RJ45 which was clean and dry due to the seal used. I then reinstalled the camera but unfortunately the problem returned quite quickly, it's possible that it hadn't dried out fully.

I will check the RJ45 as you recommended before I throw it away and seal any points if it comes back to life.

But if I replace it with a brand new one, I'd like to try and install it so Hikvision can't deny me a warranty claim, especially if they're offering 5 years warranty. Perhaps the only way is to find a verified installer in the UK?
