Hi
This issue I have been having for a while is a little specific
I have a dome camera inside the house
At night only, it doesnt detect motion unless close to the camera

If I walk past the TV you see on the wall. IT does detect any motion
If I walk on the rug ( inside red box I outlined) it WILL detection motion

Now during the day when night mode is not on. It WILL detection motion pretty much anywhere on the camera

There is no zones at all set up
I use BI5
Is there any suggestions people can offer?

Its pretty blurry on the left side so I might need to clean it but in the middle its pretty clear

I'd clean the inside and outside of that dome before going any further as that will affect the sensor's ability, especially if that fogged dome is reflecting the IR at night back into the sensor.
While you're up there insure the foam ring that shields the sensor from the IR LED's is in its proper place.

See the attached tech bulletin which expounds on this image:

Hi
So I did give the dome as good clean and the whole image is alot clearer now. You can tell the difference

But I still have the same issue

I came back to this post to reply and noticed the thing about the foam ring. Ill check that soon

Here is a video if me walking around and I have the BI5 app on my phone ( the recording is my phoine screen so you could see when the trigger and recording icons appear )

You can clearly see where I need to stand to trigger motion and start recording

I'd say it looks MUCH better.

In your first post you said "there is no zones at all set up" and "I use BI5."

Am I misunderstanding something?
Is BI detecting motion but NOT recording?
You want BI to record when you enter an area of the room BUT you have not configured BI to do just that?
Please clarify.

I mean I have not set up any privacy masks in the native camera web interface:

I have a small mask set up in BI5 to cover the TV when its on;
But when I talk by I am much larger than the TV mask below:

These are my motion settings they are pretty default and work fine during the day time:

Bi is detecting motion and recording. But it ONLY detects motion when I go closer to the camera and ONLY when the camera has switched to Night mode
During the day the camera detects motion and therefore records basically anywhere in the camera's frame
At night only I have to basically walk in living room rug to be able to get it to trigger motion and therefore the camera will then start recording that motion. Does that make sense?

It is configured and it works perfectly during the day but it wont detect motion at night unless I am closer to the camera. And really when I walk beside the wall with the TV mounted its only an extra meter or two
Please clarify.

On the "motion sensor" page, I would lower "min. object size" significantly, from 550 to 300.
I would lower "Min. contrast" also, from 40 to 25.
Under "Advanced" => " Method", select "Simple" instead of "edge vector".

Ok Ive done that and will test again tonight

I have also disabled any hotspot and zones to see if that's what is causing it

At night in BI set the min. contrast to the lowest.

Also uncheck the object detection or at least hit edit and turn off moves 100 pixels and turn off reset at 67% as that is meant to eliminate false triggers and you have the opposite going on. None of my cameras use those two features.

So you mean slide the slider all the way to the left ( towards the more sensitivity? )

WIll do thanks

Ill just test it first then set a profile to do this at night or something ( which I will have to learn how )
