Is it possible to install a native English firmware on these units? If yes, which one?

As far as I know, there is no such firmware for the 2xx5 or 3xx5 cameras. At least for public download from Hikvision.
Maybe others will comment.

I just received a 2335 IPC purchased from eBay (shipped from China) with the sticker indicating v5.3.5 but the installed FW was v5.3.6 build 151221. Serial # contained AACH (China region only). Login was ML defaulting to English. No language mismatch with the 78xxN-Ex (same as 76xxNI-Ex) NVR. So they have managed to port 5.3.6 to the 2335 in full English. I prefer the 2335 over the 3345 as it has the metal mount and better night time performance, even if it is *only* is a 3MP cam vs 4MP.

I have a bunch of 2332 cams that all started out their lives with v5.2.8 or lower, have had the MTD5/6 adjustment, now running v5.2.5. Will these cams accept a newer FW like v5.3.6 and remain English? Anyone try that?

Any chance of sample comparison between 2335 and 3345?

I have the 3345 mounted, the 2335 is still on my shelf. What are you interested in seeing? I may be able to get something for you. LMK.

Also interested in a comparison between the two for day and especially night image quality. I'm trying to decide between the 3MP 2335 and 4MP 2345. The 2345 is apparently exactly the same as the 3345 except it has a metal mount like the 2335. Normally, I would go for the 4MP but I'm concerned about night image quality and there aren't many samples of it (Chinese version). There is a thread comparing a 4MP and a 3MP but that was with a 2142FWD camera which is very different from the Chinese xx45 cameras. Not many people have both the xx35 and xx45, AND are willing to help out the many people on the forum who have unsuccessfully asked for samples comparing the two, so thank you in advance for the effort.

I have the Chinese 2335 a week or so old and not too impressed so far with the night time viewing. I have had to crank up the WDR to 70 to really see whats out there. I just changed the cat5e today as I had some junk CCA wire which I feel is too blame for the choppy pixelation and even not discovered on motion trigger as I stood and waved useing the BI.
Tonight I will post new pick again for you too see. I am going to pull trigger on 4 more cameras and I am in same dillema to get the 3MP or the 4MP as they are same price coming up on Mar 29th. Or I will revert back to my favorite 2132 but, the domes aren't as easy to place and the glass is a pain with finger prints etc. Hopefully the new wire will produce better quality and will have no excuse at that time. You may notice on the specs these say 50 and 60hz but, it is not it is 50hz only and I contacted the supplier as the specs says both. Really not sure how much a 50hz role plays in poor quality but I am sure it does. The 4MP says 50hz only in the specs from my supplier anyway.

Below are some pics. The AC units are a 3345 4MP 4mm camera (1/25 exposure, BLC left). The backyard a 2335 3MP 2.8mm camera (1/25 exposure, WDR 15%). Both using Variable Bit rate, 4096Mbps, medium quality H.264 encoding. Note the fence on the AC units pre-golf ball sized hail and post. Wow, what a storm!

3345:
- marginally better daytime picture
- acceptable night time but with very limited IR range
- crappy plastic base

2335:
- better IR range at night
- excellent aluminum base

Both, when setup correctly have the same level of motion blur (almost none).

The 2335 (FW v5.3.3):

Image Adjustment: all at 50
Exposure: Manual, 1/25, Gain 100
WDR On; 15
AWB1
DNR: Normal
Noise Reduction Level: 50
20 frames per second

No motion blur. If your exposure is slower than 1/25 you'll see motion blur.

Thanks , much better night vision now. My gain at 85 if I go to 100 its really bright but not sure what that would do to recording clearity. I thought gain was a bad thing. I monitor on my TV with android stick and tinycam pro and the video feed with H264 is very blurry I find not sure why and I cant see where I would try the H265 option or tinycam pro does not support yet. Did you find any 50hz too 60hz option change anywhere ?

Maybe you are viewing the substream?

The 50/60Hz option is unavailable on Chinese cams as they are hard set to 50Hz for the Chinese market. That is really only an issue if you are monitoring areas lit by fluorescent lighting, otherwise I don't think it is of a much concern. And as @spixel stated, you may be watching the substream. Try reducing the substream resolution to its lowest or highest and observe any change on your TV, if it changes in quality, you know you're watching the substream.

Thanks, my 2132 's have 50 and 60hz option on the software and I notice quality difference on 60hz. This new camera first I have had with 50hz only. I will check the feed on tinycam as not sure what stream it pulls by default as I don't recall a setting on there to change or not. Thanks again.

Anyone had problems changing the Image/OSD Settings options under model: DS-2CD2335-I / Firmware Version V5.3.6 build 151221 / English?

Anytime I hit save, I just get "Parameter Error" in Chrome (even if I change nothing).
Using a portable Opera Browser that supports WebComponents - returns "Device Error" on the same screen.

PS: Default password for this firmware turned out to be 1234567a

I have a few with the exact firmware version and build date. Mine are all fine. You could try reset configuration in web page, TFTP firmware 5.3.8/5.4.0 (your camera will be Chinese afterwards) or just return it.

Thanks for the quick reply @Enabler -- just a quick question though: what os, browser and version are you using to manage your camera settings?

And I'm fairly sure I don't want to install firmware on these cameras that is Chinese-only (or can I set them back to English after the upgrade?). My mandarin is rather rusty, given I've only studied to Novice level, but I guess there's always copy-and-paste into http://translate.google.com :)

PS: Timeline from purchase to installation has taken too long for a return to be viable. :(

I've used different OSes and browsers etc - all work fine.

I think I heard this happens when camera is wrong 2xx5 type (there are 2) and has wrong version of firmware on and a few 100 were sent before Chinese sellers realized.

You could use Google Chrome after upgrading to 5.3.8 (not 5.4.0) which will auto translate - just make sure you are not using NVRs or iVMS which will not play nice with a Chinese region camera.

It would fix your problem though so up to you :)
