Hikvision DS-2CD3345-I 4 mp Turrets questions

We picked up a few of these Hikvision DS-2CD3345-I 4 mp Turrets from Aliexpress, Julia's newer website and they perform very, very well. Price is very good.
However, I see some differences in the physical layouts. One, these have a plastic base with two mounting screw posts, where the 4MP Turrets on Hikvision's catalog seem to have a metal base with 3 mounting screw posts.
So the question is: Is this a subtle market area difference or are there deeper differences in the cameras?
As I said, there are no complaints with the performance and operation of these turrets. Well worth the money!
Thanks in advance.

Maybe you are you confusing the DS-2CD3345-I with the DS-2CD2342WD-I? Or perhaps the store is inter-changing the model images?

I believe that the DS-2CD3345-I is a Chinese Market camera while the DS-2CD2342WD-I is a "western region" camera. There are additionalal differences between these two cameras, other than the base (such as 120d WDR)...not to mention that the DS-2CD2342WD-I costs twice as much as the DS-2CD3345-I.

Q2U, I believe you're correct! It's Hikvision's choice of marketing in the US that has cameras hard to buy and at much higher prices. Again, we're pleased with performance at price.
Now, has anyone done a comparison between these two models and can tell me if there's a remarkably better picture quality for over $100 more per camera?

I am now in possession of both cameras, but I haven't yet compared them. As I understand it, the Wide Dynamic Range of the DS-2CD2342WD-I is of much higher quality than the DS-2CD3345-I (I believe they call it "true WDR" or "120db WDR"...not too sure about those terms though). But, imo, it is the night-time conditions which really matter for me and each of my four (4) night time cameras all operate in outdoor areas which are well-lighted by flood lights at night. As a result (IMO) I don't believe that I need best of class IR and or BOC WDR for MY outdoor application. Therefore I use the 4MP ($85.00!) DS-2CD3345-I (and the older 2MP Hik DS-2CD2332-I turret model) for all of my outside cameras.

Hi Q2U, just wondering if you had a chance to fire up the two cameras in a real-world (dark) scenario? I can't tell if the 2342WD-I is worth the higher price. Let us know what you think.
Thanks

Mayfer,

I have now installed both the DS-2CD2342WD-I turret and the DS-2CD3345-I turret and -- in my opinion -- there is not a great deal of difference between the IR image capabilities of these two cameras.

Yes the DS-2CD2342WD-I does have better night vision quality than the DS-2CD3345-I...but the quality increase is not significant. I use four (4) turret at work for our outside cameras...but the outside areas we surveill are all lit by flood lights. In fact, I turn the IR off on all of these cameras and set them all to "Day" and the subsequent image is quite good IMO.

The recent night testing I am referring to was done in my unlit backyard and -- once again -- the night-time IR lighted image quality between the DS-2CD2342WD-I turret and the DS-2CD3345-I turret was not that great a differential. I apologize for not having video to share with you, but my testing was a subjective judgement split over two weekends. Not very scientific I'm afraid.

This said, the DS-2CD2342WD-I turret is a better quality build simply because of the metal mounting bracket and the fact that the turret locks in place with a set screw whereas the DS-2CD3345-I has no such screw and (as a result) it doesn't take much pressure to twist the DS-2CD3345-I to change the viewing angle of the camera.

I know it has been written that the DS-2CD2342WD-I has much better night vision capabilities because of it's "true WDR" but -- again in my subjective opinion -- while it is "better" it is not "a great deal better." And -- again IMO -- the DS-2CD2342WD-I is not worth two (2) times the cost of the DS-2CD3345-I.

In addition, the DS-2CD2342WD-I Western Region I purchased does have different setting options than my Chinese DS-2CD3345-I. For example, the xxx has ability to choose PAL or NTSC whereas the DS-2CD3345-I appears to be PAL "hard-coded." In addition, in the images below notice how you can sneak the pigtail under the metal bracket of the DS-2CD2342WD-I whereas you must drill a hole to free the DS-2CD3345-I pigtail.

My judgement may well be proved inferior in the future by a person who performs a more thorough scientific analysis, but, for now 'ol Q™ won't be buying any more DS-2CD2342WD-I cameras unless someone shows the that I've failed to consider some value.

The DS-2CD2345-I is the Chinese version with metal base and WDR.

When it says DS-2CD3 , this means it is from the 'consumer' range and has plastic base. DS-2CD2 is distributor range and has some small improvements.

Any chance of getting some pics form the cameras to compare?

Any chance of getting some pics form the cameras to compare?

Unfortunately not pictures which will provide a meaningful comparison spixel. This is because the DS-2CD3345-I has been installed outside 25 feet up on the side of a building monitoring a parking area which is lit by floodlights at night while the DS-2CD2342WD-I has been installed inside a warehouse in an area which is lighted by fluorescent lighting 24/7.

Could anyone provide a link to Julia's website please. TIA
