Hi

After powering down my DS-2CD3Q10FD for 18 months and after recovering my forgotton password (thanks to alastairstevenson) I now find that the email notification not working (previously it was working). I have changed the SMTP server to outlook (previously live) and still the test failed. My router modem hasn't changed since setup

Please help.

I'm not sure about what Outlook has done - but Gmail over that time period has changed/improved access security to email servers, requiring some firmware updates to fix.
I believe you are now on current firmware - it may now require modified settings to allow a connection.
As a test of connectivity and name resolution, is there a 'Test' button for the time server settings, if so what does it give?

Thanks alastairstevenson and Tony R

I am not sure of time server test, however clicking test button indicated it tested "successful".

I have tried gmail and yahoo email addresses with no success. "User name or password is wrong" even with the two step verification.

Thanks again

You can use a fixed ip for wifi (wlan) I use the same IP as for the wired network
for ntp i use : pool.ntp.org

That is good as it confirms there is both name resolution and internet connectivity, so the cause is neither of those.

For gmail you'd need to 'allow insecure device access' in the account profile settings.
And the port would be 587 on smtp.gmail.com

Best disable UPnP - you really don't want the camera to be automatically opening inbound access from the internet if UPnP is also enabled in the router.

Thanks you very much alastairstevenson

Changing the gmail profile to "Allow less secure apps: ON" works

I see no screenshot of the e-mail server and SMTP settings, but it's moot as it appears @alastairstevenson has you on the right path with that and turning ON (in G-mail) "Allow less secure apps".

I don't care what other forum member say about him...he's a good man. :D
