Hi guys,

Just wanted to ask if anybody experienced this problem before...

I have a Hikvision DS-2DE4220IW with the lates firmware, from day 1 the ptz control does not work when its dark. As soon as its daylight the ptz control starts working!

Is there something basic i am missing? Im assuming its software related as the ptz control works at night.

Any help appreciated and thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum..how are you powering this camera? This issue is likely related to power as at night, the IR consumes power and you are not providing sufficient power to the camera for ptz and IR together.

The power supply cable will be less than 3m, i will have to check however whether the supply is plugged in an extension lead or not...i will confirm this tomorrow...

according to spec sheet it supports: POE (802.3at,class4)

12vdc wont travel very far, to expand on @fenderman's comment.. what gauge wiring are you using for power?

if its an extension cord before the transformer it shouldnt matter...to test the power theory. at night disable ir, or put in day mode and see if you can PT...or place it in night mode during the day and make sure ir is on and see if you can PT.

Reply for nayr : the cable is 2.5mm and the spec ypu state is for the new camera, mine is the older version where it did not support poe, it was just 12v power supply.

Reply for fenderman : i will give this a try tomorrow, if i can't PT with ir on in night mode during the day does that mean its a power supply issue or mains power issue? Any way i can work this out?

if you cant pt with IR on but you can with IR off then its a power issue.
