I have tried to add a new Hikvision 2.8mm DS-2CD2132F-I dome via plug and play to my NVR but the NVR does not see or add the camera to the system as it has done with the other 3 Hikvision cameras on my system. The firmware is V5.3.0 build 150327 as stated on the box. The box it came in is the printed retail box rather than the plain brown box.
I can see and get live view if I connect the camera directly to my home network.
Can someone please point me in the right direction to get this camera working with the NVR.

I didn't think your NVR model was PoE, but as you mention 'Plug and Play' I presume it's via the PoE ports on the NVR that you are trying to add the camera. These operate on a different, isolated network.
Maybe try this and see if it works:
On the NVR Camera Management menu - set the last remaining port to 'Manual' instead of 'Plug and Play', leave the protocol as Hikvision and the management port as 8000. Note down the IP address assigned to the port.
With the camera on your normal LAN, find it with SADP and set the IP address to the IP address of your remaining PoE port, then unplug the camera from the LAN and power supply and plug it in to the last PoE port, at which point it should come on-line.

And if it's not a PoE connection - assign the camera an IP address on your LAN with SADP, add the new remaining channel to your NVR and assign it the IP address you gave the camera. Use Hikvision for the protocol, and 8000 for the management port. The camera should come on-line in a few seconds.

Hi Alastair,

Thanks for your reply and instructions.
I thought I had tried just about every method to get this camera to come online including yours but obviously not.
The only extra bit I needed to add to your instructions was to make sure I entered the camera password in NVR Camera Management menu.
The other 3 cameras on my system have a 2014 manufacture date and run V5.2 firmware. Out of the box the username and password are admin and they worked fine on the plug and play but the camera that caused the problems is April 2015 manufacture running V5.3 firmware and out of the box the username is admin but you have to give it a password via SADP before you can do anything with it.

Up and running, so thanks again for your help.

Well done! The new so-called 'activation' method. I never thought of that. I haven't seen it yet on a camera, but we've heard about it.
When you have finished all the configuration - it's a good idea to make a backup of the NVR configuration, and the IPC configuration, and save the files somewhere safe.
This can be done via the 'Maintenance' menu.
