Hikvision DVR 8fps limit

Hi All,

I have a newly installed Hikvision DVR and three 8mp Hikvision cameras installed.

For some reason the Frame Rate is limited to a maximum of 8 fps for the "Main Stream" regardless of any other settings. The sub-stream will go to 12 fps but both of these seem rather low.

I'm not sure exactly what model the DVR is but the web configuration panel tells me it's : H-508 ACU (Firmware: V4.26.131 build 210811 Encoding Version: V5.0 build 210425)

The cameras are Hikvision "Turbo HD"4k, model DS-2CE78U1T-IT3F

Both the web interface and connecting a screen to the DVR directly show the same limitation. Does anyone have any idea why it's limited to 8 fps and what I can do to increase this?

Look at the specs of the NVR - it probably limits something. Want full MP then lower FPS is a common situation

I thought this may be the issue, but even lowering the resolution to 1920*1080P doesn't allow an increase in FPS.

In fact, lowering it right to the bottom (352*288) doesn't allow any better FPS either.

Thanks for the reply.

This is a limitation of your DVR. See specs here. H-508 ACU
Also note that the camera itself is limited to 12.5fps at 8k.

Thanks Fenderman.

However, even setting the camera to 3mp it still won't allow me to set it higher than 8fps, but the specs you linked say "3 MP@18 Fps". Any thoughts?

I am not familiar with the way these TVI systems communicate with the camera but my guess is that despite changing the resolution on the DVR, either the cam or the dvr itself is not registering the change. Try changing it then rebooting both devices.

Thanks Fenderman. Just tried that but sadly upon rebooting the DVR even though it's set to 3mp, the FPS doesn't give me any higher option than 8fps either via the web panel or on the DVR itself.

Have just realised I can change "resolution" but not "front end resolution" as that is greyed out. What's the difference and any idea why I can't change "front end resolution".

A little update...

It seems the web interface doesn't have the full set of options that accessing the DVR directly does which has caused my confusion.

I accessed the DVR directly and it has an option for the resolution of the camera input. Changing this option to a lower megapixel (eg; 4MP) allowed me to change the FPS.

This isn't possible on the web panel when accessing through IP of the DVR.

Sorry for the confusion everyone and thanks for making suggestions.

Which browser were you using?

These things are sensitive to browsers and Internet Explorer provides full operability as that is the browser the firmware is designed around. Not chrome or edge with the IE tab, but plain ole Internet Explorer.

Using Chrome.

Have just taken a look using IE but the option is still greyed out and I can't see any additional options even after installing the required plugin. Not sure if this is because these are regular analog cameras and not IP ones.

Thanks again for taking the time to make recommendations Wittaj, it's much appreciated.
