Hikvision firmware downgrade

We had times when the firmware was newer than supported on VMS software. Is there a way to downgrade? I tried but it fails and their support says it can't be done.

What they mean is that they have implemented a downgrade block in camera firmware of 5.4.0 or higher.

That's one of those statements that will be treated as a challenge.
What series of camera are you enquiring about?

Depends on the firmware rev you are at. Hikvision disabled downgrade capabilities in some camera's firmware starting around 5.4.x, to prevent people from doing the MTD hack, etc.
