I use Microsoft Explorer to log directly into my Hikvision cameras. Well, with explorer on its way out I try to use Chrome or Edge to view the cameras directly. Chrome and Edge state to "click here" to add the plug in. I follow all the instructions and I still can not view a live camera feed.
I can edit everything I need to on Chrome or Edge though. m

So, does anyone know why the plug in is not working on either of those two browsers?

They're Chromium-based, the plug-in is not compatible.
Many try "IE Tab", an extension, in Chrome or Edge, some work, some don't....YMMV.

Consider Pale Moon 32 bit in place of IE, the IE plug-in should download from the cam and install.
