Hikvision Monthly newsletters

Just for interest, to see what Hikvision marketing folks think is important:
http://us7.campaign-archive2.com/?u=ba4e66c6b6641ac5867ac1f4f&id=9ed2ccbd58&e=d302d179f4

The main points:
Hikvision H.264+ Encode Technology

The popularity of the high-definition video and the growing bitrate caused by the high resolution can have quite some impact on the network infrastructure and storage capacity. H.264+ technology is a kind of intelligent algorithm developed by Hikvision. It is a remarkable encoding technology which focuses on the features of the surveillance video and is optimized based on the H.264/AVC. H.264+ decreases the bitrate of the surveillance video greatly so as to save the system cost.
Firmware update IP Camera V5.3.4

IP camera V5.3.4 build 150812 is released.

Language: Multi-language
Platform: R1, R3, R4
Updates:
  • Support H.264+ algorithm: an optimized H.264 algorithm developed by Hikvision, enables remarkable reduction of bandwidth. With H.264+ algorithm, users are able to set the maximum bandwidth and predict required storage space.
  • New exposure time available: 1/75s, 1/125s, 1/175s, 1/225s, 1/300s and 1/400s.
  • Support web 4.0: unified with NVR GUI, more user friendly.
  • Unattended luggage detection and object removal detection are optimized: the available time threshold is improved to 3600s.
You can find the firmware and release note on Portal.

Not surprised that all those 6mm versions are being discontinued. Shame but I guess that common mistake of getting the widest angle you can rather than the right lens is global.

Hikvision Marketing Monthly Newsletter #2 February 2016

This month's newsletter has some useful items that should be worth a look.

WD Purple official stamp of approval.

Some marketing stuff.

And I don't know how new these are - but I was very pleasantly surprised to see the large collection of How-to videos on YouTube.
Good work Hikvision!
I wonder if this was partly due to @Stevejn taking on board some of the feedback he received on his brief visit to this forum ...
