Hikvision NVR crashes when intercom camera is added

Hi,

I have recently purchased a Hikvison intercom kit to connect with my Hikvison DS-7608NI-I2 / 8P NVR.
The intercom kit is a DS-KH6320-WTE1W with a DS-KD8003-IME1 door station.
My NVR is
Model serial DS-7608NI-I2 / 8P0820170815CCRR815181497WCVU

Firmware V3.4.95 build 170626
Encoding version V5.0 build 170412
Plugin version V3.0.6.13

When I set the Door station as an IP camera manually in the camera settings on the NVR, it works fine, but the NVR keeps crashing after a few minutes. The IP of the NVR is 192.168.1.105 and the camera is 192.168.1.108. The Indoor station is 192.168.1.109
I can view the doorstation through Hikconnect on my phone Ok and the intercom works as it should.
I have managed to get the NVR to view and record the doorstation and can play back footage without problems.
I can view the doorsattion from Hikconnect and IVMS 4200 and 4500.
The last time I had the camera added to the NVR it ran for well over an hour and then started crashing until it would reboot before it fully started and I had to disconnect the POE switch so I could reset the camera to plug and play on the NVR
I have had the NVR since 2017 and it has been very reliable till now.
The dealer that sold me the door intercom kit suggested it may be a NVR firmware issue, would it be safe to update the firmware of the NVR? I purchased it from an Australian seller on ebay and have no reason to believe it is not a genuine NVR, but I would value your opinion and I do not want to damage the unit with the wrong firmware.

Probably just guesswork, but likely to be true.
The I-series firmware was pretty fluid following your current version.
There were about 15 updates even before the V4.x firmware was introduced (don't just try that - there are specific steps needed to go there).

would it be safe to update the firmware of the NVR?
It should be - but maybe ask the dealer that question.

I have contacted Hikvision support who replied that I need to contact the dealer I purchased the NVR from. The dealer seems like he may be inactive now, but I am waiting for a reply.
Where can I find the necessary steps to update the firmware to V4.x?
