hikvision nvr line crossing issue!

hi guys i have just installed a DS-7608NI-K2 nvr and am trying to set up the cameras (DS-2CD2385FWD) for line crossing, basically i want the cameras to only record when theres motion and/or if theres a line crossing, if i set the dvr to record motion only and set up the line crossings the hik-connect app works fine but says no files found when i try to play back the clip! what am i missing here its driving me insane

any pros on here?

Line crossing isn't motion, so if the NVR Storage Schedule recording is set Motion (Green) it won't record on Line Crossing or other Smart Events.
Set the Storage Schedule to record on Event (Purple).

Thanks for responding Alastair, so is it possible to have the nvr recording on motion only (full screen coverage) and be able to record line crossings too so I can view them on the hik connect app?

I have cameras only at home and they record only when motion is detected and then send me the notification of a line crossing and I can watch the snippets in messages ok, really bizarre I can’t work it out on the nvr!
