Hi,

Can someone help me please!!

We have bought 4 ptz cameras for our farm. All are wired back to a poe switch then we have engenius bridges going to the nvr and monitor in the house. Try using sadp tool to set up but can't find cameras. Took nvr and monitor outside and plugged cameras direct to monitor, worked immediately then tried poe switch into not and nothing.... can anyone offer any help please?? In as simple terms as possible°° We're farmers not IT professionals and suppliers seem to want to baffle Us!! Had electrician come and check cabling was all straight wired as well and all ok.

Any help would be appreciated!!!!

what model cameras? what model poe?
was the cable wired to 568B standard?

The electrician said it's wired as RJ45 is that the same? Poe switch model is ds-3e0105p-e and cameras are ds-2de4215iw-de

The kit seems ok cameras and Poe switch
Strange why the Poe switch won’t work
Can you take just one camera and plug into the Poe switch
Does the cameras go through it’s self test?
If it does can you then run a test cable back from the Poe switch to you router and plug in
And plug your nvr into the router too and test
If the camera doesn’t start on the Poe switch can you power it up with a 12v power supply
And test

We plugged cameras straight into recorder and could view them, then plugged into poe and into recorder bypassing bridges and nothing came up. Getting really frustrating!! Company says colours of wires in correct order is important electrician says his testing kit says 1 to 1 2 to 2 etc and colours don't matter would this make any difference to poe working and explain why they works direct into recorder!?

Colours do matter as fenderman said 568b standard
Ok take the Poe switch inside and with a made cable plug the camera in and then plug a made cable back to the router and plug the nvr into the router
Just so you can bypass the electricians cables

Cameras are in situ 15 foot above a shed full of cows!!! Really difficult to get down without hiring a platform again, cables are definitely not in the 568b colour order just checked but electrician tested to show each end is the same and is adamant that won't make a difference why is it the colours matter so much just so I can tell him.

Ok camera is in place
Plug the Poe in with out any cameras into it
Then plug one camera in does it fire up eg spins around then up and down
If one does do that and passes it check sum plug another in and test if all pass there check sum then look at the cable from the Poe back to the house
The wire standard to me does matter some will say no but then when you have a problem and it’s not wired correctly you can’t rule out that cable

Yes done that cameras power up but no images unless I just plug cameras direct into nvr and I get images from them then, also now have one camera that powers up but get no image at all never mind how I plug it in!!! And that's the easy one to get to!!

Ok that easy one can you un plug it’s cable and use a bought one
Unplug all the other cameras
Plug the bought cable from the easy one into the Poe switch
And then into the nvr
You need to fault find the Poe switch if the easy camera fires up on the Poe switch and you can see the camera then the Poe switch is working plug it into all 4 ports too as you can then say all four work
then plug another camera in (electrians wiring) and see what happens

I can't get a picture on that one on either nvr poe or anything Now it just powers up nvr says detecting and then nothing!!! Can get pictures from all others on straight into nvr none of the cables match the diagram you have just posted apart from the bought cables I have inside!!

For PoE to work (and proper communication in general) the ends on the cable need to be wired like the picture marku2 posted. If you used fake Cat5/Cat6 cable (CCA instead of full copper) that can cause lots of PoE/communication issues too. Post up the brand and model of the cable you used and we can check.
