Hello,

I have purchased HiWatch HWI-T220 model and in camera web UI I have only Basic Events, I am missing completely Smart Events menu. I have updated camera to the latest FW version V5.5.70 / 180929, not sure if the menu Smart Events had been there before the FW upgrade. I am also missing expert mode in Basic Events, so I cant set Threshold, just only the Sensitivity.

Any idea why this menu is missing? Is it supported on higher-spec cameras?

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Michal

Have you tried using IE11 to view the camera's web interface?
It's possible these features are not included on your camera model.
Datasheet for the HWI-T220:

The HiWatch user manual does cover Smart Events but also states "Note: Intrusion detection function varies according to different camera models." Similar notes are included on many of the Smart Events.

I also found out that I am missing option "Net HDD" under Storage Management. Basically I can upload only to FTP (JPEG files), not videos. Is it possible that this camera is so restrcitded because of low price?

These are dumbed-down consumer-level devices with deliberately limited feature sets.

If I would purchase some of the NVRs from HIK Vision like HikVision HiWatch HWN-XXX would it meain I could connect those "dumb" cameras to it and it would be able to do all the Smart things like line crossing, upload to NAS etc?

I don't know the answer to that. Are you able to return the camera? If you purchase the NVR you might find you still don't have the capabilities. One option is to use a software solution like Blue Iris.

The events, basic and smart, originate in the camera, which when they occur sends notifications to the NVR for a configured action to take place.
