HIKVISION Support...

If you really want to update the firmware just do what I posted. But like what the others said if you dont have to its probably better not to if youre not having problems. I've only updated my Hik NVR because the firmware it had on it was too old to process the newer 180degree dual sensor cameras
Please read the original post. Trust me, I don't want to update the firmware on the NVR, but I fear I have no alternative. Same issue as you had.

We live in rural California and it's very dark at night. I much prefer the DS-2DE4425IW-DE

California's got nothing to do with it... here's a recent purchase I made (Santa Claus delivered a day late):

It's not perfect, but I love it... some might say the 15 sec patrol will wear it out... couldn't care less... we'll see... when it hits each preset it tracks right away... that's what's important to me... (that was the weak point firmware past).

Trust me, updating the NVR is an act of last resort. I have the same problem as you.

You can add camera just fine. First, set the coding on streams h264 on camera, secondly, download batch configuration tool. Add camera to the list and pick tab batch settings, scroll down and you will see security password, set it to close. What this do is remove new version of auth on camera that nvr cannot do due to being old. Cheers

So close !! I changed H264+ to H264 and loaded up the Batch Configuration Tool. I added the PTZ camera but "Batch Config" was not highlighted.
Any ideas ?

Press "More" there you should have an option for reducing security password
Sorry, but more help needed ! Only 2/4 are highlighted and opening each of the menus did not result in anything related to disabling or reducing the security password.

PS If you wish you can send to my email directly.
