Hikvision web interface live view in Linux?

I'm connecting to a Hikvision camera's web interface, trying both Firefox and Chromium in Ubuntu 18.04, but I can't get live video to show. Any ideas on how to get this to work?

I think the only way to get a live view in a browser is through the Windows ActiveX thing. So no Linux. You could use VLC I believe.

Ugh. It's 2018, why is ActiveX still a thing? :/
So I guess there's also no way to get the motion detection zones set up using a browser in Linux either

Some of the newer NVR and Camera firmware support no plugin web use but I think it's only on 5/7 Series IPC: Firmware V5.5.5 and I Series NVR: Firmware V4.1.50

When I was using Linux I just had a Windows VM?
