Hikvision: Why is my playback always in Alarm?

Hi, apologies for what may be a noob question.

I have set my record schedule to be exclusively on motion:



But when I go to Playback it is constantly recording due to "Alarm".

Looking for advice on how I can make it only record on motion, as I can't find any enabled alarm that would cause this.

You should be able to find a clue if you check the system logs for alarm events for that channel.

It's a DS-7604NXI-K1/4P on version V4.74.017 build 230418.

This is what I see in the maintenance log for alarm:

I would have expected it to only record between those stop and start events.

Agreed, there should be lots of gaps based on what's shown in that log extract.
Is it only channel D1 that's behaving like this?

Do you have any cross-channel triggering configured?

I only have 1 camera connected and haven't set up any triggering intentionally.
Do you see anything wrong here?

I suspect that with motion detection sensitivity set at 100% you'd get more events than wanted such as from noise in low light for example.
But that does not explain the mismatch between what the log shows and what the playback timeline shows.

I took the nuclear option and reset the NVR to defaults, that still didn't help, then I reset the camera to defaults and it started working , although it is still showing as alarm rather than motion.

Well, it's good that you got it sorted.
It's a puzzle though what setting in the camera would cause that effect. I don't know if the pre and post recording time settings extend that far.
