Hi All

I am new to the forum and cctv but with plenty of IT experience I thought it can't be that difficult but I am a little stumped. Sorry for the lengthy post below, I have been reading the forum for a week or so but not figured out all the issue

Setup is the 7608 connected to 4 Dahua turrets HDW4631C-A using onvif and 2 domes seem to be hik clones but connect plug and play using hikvision protocol. All wiring is cat5e FTP with the longest rung being about 8m but most are 5m.

I know motion detection is working because if I set the linking method to email I get emails on motion events. I can also see on the nvr if I go to maintenance and logs that alerts for motion are logged as well as seeing the bell on screen during motion. The system is set to continuous record but I wanted to see motion marks on the playback timeline which I don't see in the web interface. I have tried single screen play back and select motion in the bottom left but the bar just remains blue. The recorder is in the loft so will take a monitor up and see if I can see the motion markers on direct playback from the nvr

On a side note the dahua cameras will only give me high quality main stream in I enable Smart codec, if I turn smart codec off I get sub stream 2 showing as the main stream (camera has 3 streams when smart codec is off and 2 when smart codec is on). I have tried a number of settings but it only works with smart codec on but this limits remote playback on hik connect to the basic stream as HD gives error network is unstable. The hik clones work fine for HD viewing on hik connect.

I started off looking to buy the zmodo kit and realised it was rubbish.
I am learning my lessons here and should have purchased hik cameras but the cost on aliexpress was a lot less for Dahua. The NVR is Genuine Hik UK spec with V3.4.101 build 180904 and the only reason I go the Hik NVR was because the Dahua didn't support H265

Thanks

I've only ever seen this facility when using Hikvision cameras, never under ONVIF with Dahua or others, or the various other-brand cameras that support a sub-set of the Hikvision API, even when they are connected as 'Hikvision'.

Common problem. You will not get event markers on the web interface. It's a Hik problem, and has been for some time.

Thanks for the replies

Have set to motion record which does the job as expected. It is probably better as I am not wasting disk space just recording constantly. I thought hik would have sorted issues with the web browser interface not showing motion markers as it clearly has the events marked in the logs

The only thing now is I can only watch sub stream on live view via web with the dahua cameras. If I playback recording I get the main stream which is strange as it means the nvr can see the stream.

May replace the cameras on the front with hiks at some point so I can take advantage of the other features like line crossing.
