I've been DIY replacement on my Wood Soffits & Facia and have some odd ends of 1 x 6 Facia (Clear Fir). It got me to thinking of a better Drop Down than the Metal Boxes I've been using.

I Glued up some of the 1 x 6 (3/4" x 5-1/2" Actual dimensions) then used my nail gun to reinforce. This Gives me 1-1/2" drop down. Next using a 3" Hole saw drilled thru. center.

Work in progress from the first install without painting, then decided it would work to my liking and proceeded to make a few more to replace what I had in place already.

The drop down lowers my Cameras (center of Lens) to 7'6" from the ground level.

basically cost was my time as I had everything laying around waiting to be used for something.

Great idea, looks good....thanks for sharing!
Just that 1-1/2" may also be just enough to help prevent some IR bounce-back from the outer edge of the soffit.
