My BI server is a Dell OptiPlex 7050, i7-7700, 16GB, 256 SSD and 8TB purple for storage with ~40MP across 11 cameras. I decided to load Homeseer on the machine as it runs <20% CPU, <3GP RAM. I loaded Homeseer plugins for BI, MyQ (garage door openers), ecobee thermostat (heat only in my case), DSC Alarm (via Envisalink IP interface) and ImperiHome or a mobile user interface.
I didn't want much in the way of automation. Mostly, I wanted to be able to push one manual button on my phone and have that change BI profile, thermostat program, alarm system status and so on.
It is working really well.
