Getting the hang of it

Thinking either the Z5 or Z12 at the same position/height this picture is taken from zooming in to the section of road marked by the red rectangle. Do you think that angle would work? It is about 105'. Thanks.

Z12 yes. The trick will be getting enough IR to that spot. Assume vehicle speed will be slow there which should help

Yes, i would say 17-25 mph since near entrance.

My concern was the angle. My garage is right behind the trash can and runs parallel to the red line i drew

Any suggestions for external IR at 100-110’?

I use a Bosch UFLED20-8BD AEGIS 850nm, 20° that I picked up for ~$230 before it was discontinued. It works great at that distance, but unfortunately no longer available.

Scene Electronics have illuminators with 15 degree beams available on AliExpress. They have additional models listed on their website, dunno why they are not available through AliExpress. Shipping is not cheap though, but when I ordered from them using "AliExpress Premium Shipping" it ended up being delivered by DHL at significantly cheaper pricer, but somewhat slower, than if you choose "DHL" explicitly.

I just ordered this POE IR Illuminator
MegaPixel AT-11E-S
20 Degree x 10 Degree.
PoE IR illuminator | MegaPixel AT-11E-S | with I/O Ports - Outdoor IP67 Need to illuminate plates at 110 feet and using the 5241EP-Z12E camera. Manufacturer claims lifetime warranty and this will work much better than the $50 IR Illuminators on Amazon and will meet the range specd. Will post back here results once I receive.
