Hi. I have several Dahua Cameras attached to a PC that is just running Blue Iris. I have a new setup and I followed setup advised in the Cliff Notes.

I also have Hass.io running on a Raspberry Pi.

I want to use these cameras as a motion sensor to open/close lights in Home Assistant. How can I do this?

I found this code from Github:

JesseWebDotCom/home-assistant-configuration

It us from a guy named JesseWebDotCom.

Is this the best (AND EASIEST) way to do this? If so, where do I paste this code? What other steps do I need?

Are there other ways to do it?

Can I connect directly to the Dahua cameras?

Thanks!

that is the contents of a file called camera_motion.yaml, he's probably referencing it in his configuration.yaml, but there is definitely more to it than that you'd have to look through his other files, I'm curious how he's getting the info from blue iris, probably the new MQTT component of BI. Given how shitty software motion sensing is, I don't think I'd want to use it inside of the house, maybe outside, there's 100 ways to skin a cat in home assistant, the best way is the way that is easiest for you to set up and understand.
