I'm talking lightning storms in the area. Is a dedicated surge protector with your NVR and a dedicated surge protector with your POE Switch enough?

Now a direct hit to the camera is a different story, obviously.

How do you guys protect your system?

I use smaller POE switches that have SPF uplinks and connect them back with fibre.
If something takes a hit, damage is limited to a handful of cameras. :)

Also earth everything. :)

I had a lightning strike through my cable line. Fried 1 ethernet port on each of my devices. Modem, Router and NVR. Oddity is the NVR port still sends power but no video.
