I purchased a dahua 16 channel NVR, but it seems when I place a 9th camera on the system, it doesn't work. Under system info it tells me it is a 16 channel record, I can also display up to 16 camera, but think that doesn't mean anything I only have 9 camera, and waiting for delivery of my tenth, how can I be sure it is a 16 channel NVR

Back the FPS down for a couple of cameras and try again.

Did the trick for me.

If you have 16 boxes it should be 16 channels...the 8 channels one have 8 boxes + 1 empty box only (when viewing 3x3 display).

You also have to see what specs your NVR is rated for then divide that by the number of cameras you have, especially the bitrate spec...

For example if your 16 channel machine is rated for 80 Mbps and you have 10 cameras, you should set each one no higher than 9-10 Mbps/camera or else your 11th one won't work (no resource error is typical).

so technically a 240 nvr with 8 cameras would give 30FPS each camera which would be real time?
