We tend to think there haven't been very many nuclear explosions since the end of WWII. This video shows who has set off nuclear explosions, where, how many, approximate date and a total count. I was kinda shocked.

It's too bad there's such a stigma attached to nuclear power reactors. It could easily take the place of coal- and natural gas-fired methods for steam turbines to generate MORE electricity and pretty much put an end to the notion that EV's are our only salvation in conserving resources or to decrease our reliance on fossil fuels.

Excerpt:

Safety of Nuclear Power Reactors
There have been two major reactor accidents in the history of civil nuclear power – Chernobyl and Fukushima Daiichi. Chernobyl involved an intense fire without provision for containment, and Fukushima Daiichi severely tested the containment, allowing some release of radioactivity
These are the only major accidents to have occurred in over 18,500 cumulative reactor-years of commercial nuclear power operation in 36 countries.

It's amazing how effective Fear Porn is for many people. Chernobyl was truly a manmade disaster, but Fukushima was a casualty and by-product of mother nature. Thorium-Salt reactors will be the future. The problem will be educating the new generation of Thorium-salt vs Uranium. The word Nuclear has gotten a bad rap from certain groups and the MSN has capitalized on it by making the word nuclear part of their Fear Sells marketing scheme.

I did not know that we conducted so many tests on US soil, especially in the AL GA area?

Most tests on continental US were very small, the big tests where in the Pacific.
