How many of you have cameras inside for intruder detection?

Believe it or not, we know better this type of stuff happens a lot ,because people want us to respond faster. Your putting people at risk for no reason.
Well at least you can provide good advice. :)

Never said they were in the house, said it looks like they have a gun, very hard to prove someone lied about what they think they see in a smart phone screen. :)
What he's saying is telling them something like "I think he has a gun" doesn't accomplish much. He didn't say this, but it may actually slow down the response as they may wait for backup before getting too close.

I have a bunch of hikvision cubes inside my house at all entrances and choke points. Plus motion sensors. Peace of mind in case someone manages to get creative and slip past the exterior cams.

I have cams inside and out. But don't be a douche and lie or embellish things by saying "so and so looks like he has a gun" if you haven't seen one just to try and get the cops there faster and angrier. If you see one say so; if you don't then don't. Telling the truth should be a fairly simple decision. You also aren't helping the cops by giving them bad information.

I have a few cameras at home, in the house, hidden. The only one anyone would find is the fisheye one that is set up so I can check in on the dogs. I have a Synology NAS with Surveillance station doing all the motion recording and feeding it to my phone when I am away.

I suggest you use interior cameras. Place them to cover as much square footage as possible on every level, as well as key entry points.

Don't restrict yourself by worrying about privacy or recording someone running around in their undies (unless you have those hackable wi-fi cameras). After all, you'll probably be the only one to see such recordings. Be more concerned about recording an intruder. Plus, you'll have the extra benefit of remotely seeing what's going on inside your house. It's like being there even when you are away.

What type of cameras do you use to make them well hidden? Most of the decent stuff I've seen that is "mini" ( say like the Dahua HDBW4231F-AS or Hikvision DS-2CD2432F) are still pretty obvious....not that I have a real need to hide them but I'd prefer they were not terribly obvious.

I like the idea of a fisheye for a whole area overview which would work for intruder detection but would probably be crap for indtruder ID unless they have a very unique bald spot. :)
Most of the fisheyes (sub $500) out there though do not have onboard de-warping options so tops of heads would be all you get. But that would be plenty fine for watching Fido or at least knowing if someone is in there to be able to call the cops as discussed above.

I picked up some cheap China onvif cams from Ali Express a few years back.

If you search for pinhole type cams you can find these with various lens styles, even one with a lens head that looks like a screw. If you can get creative, you can hide them in things. The quality isn't horrible.

Anyone use the Hikvision Cube cameras indoors and \ or have some sample images or clips?
They are a nice small form factor but wondering how they would compare, esp in night \ IR mode to something like the Dahua HDBW4231F-AS which has some good reviews here but seems chunky in comparison. The Hik appears it might be less noticeable and more easily hidden.

I have one, no clips I'm on my phone but I like the PIR sensor.
