Hi all,

Always get some great help from you guys on questions I have, so giving back with a quick How to guide:

How to retro fit a mini case fan to the new DS-7608ni-k1/4p or similar NVRs

These new NVRs don't come with a fan, nor a socket on the NVR motherboard to attach one.
After trying it for a week as standard (no fan) and a hard drive recording 24/7, I found there was still quite a bit of heat generated inside the case, so I looked at options to retro fit a fan (like my trusty old NVR which had a socket for a fan onboard)
There is still mounting holes on the side of the new NVR to place the fan.

What's needed:
1) One Male to 2x female SATA Adaptor (one output to the HD, the other to the fan)
2) One Male SATA to Fan adaptor (I got one with 2 fan outputs), so potentially you could have a fan either side)
3) Any small case fan, I've used the Noctua series, they have rubber mounts and fits well inside the case, mostly importantly for me, it's near silent, but pumps out a good volume of air from the case.

Hope this helps anyone out...
