Decided to make an account since I'm setting up my first home surveillance system. Learned quite a bit from here already and plan to learn more.
Still waiting on some stuff to ship and arrive but I'm going with a blue iris build.
Specs:
-Dell T30 ( 4C/4T Xeon, 8GB) These were dirt cheap during the presidents day sale on Dell's site!
-(x4) IPC-HDW2231R-ZS (purchased from andy's amazon store)
-WD 4TB purple HDD (The Dell comes with a 1TB but I plan to use that for everything that isn't video)
-Netgear GS108LP poe switch
-APC BR1000MS for backup power
...and various other things such as an extra GbE card and some cat6.
I plan to eventually setup a NAS for backup at another location other than home in the event that the computer itself gets stolen but I haven't gotten that far yet.
Looking forward to getting everything up and running whenever it all arrives. I'm sure I'll be running into a hand full of problems along the way but hey, that's why I'm here!
