I really hope this sensor size and mp combo comes back..
I do to. I have two of them and I like them a lot. Maybe they can use a newer style sensor as the 4/3" is sort of dated technology wise. I am buying no cameras that do not have at least a 1/1.2" sensor or larger. In fact I just upgraded a Dahua 5442 to a 4K camera with the 1/1.2" sensor. I have a few more that I want to update, but I am waiting to see what comes on the market later this year. However if China invades Taiwan then I may have to stay with what I have.

Are the 1/1.2" all 8mp or are there any 4mp with 1/1.2" ?

So I think this guy was with some SmartHomePro company selling Vivint security cameras. I am glad he figured out I didn't need those cameras.
This past week we have had Vivint people crawling all over the neighborhood. There have been five or six different salesmen walking the streets and going door to door. Every one of them that came up my walkway turned around once they saw the 4 cams at the front door. They did not even get to see the other two nor get to see the No Soliciting sign. One just happened to notice the LPR cam box and turned right around.
Same thing happened here, neither my "No Soliciting" sign, nor the Dahua IPC-PFW8802-A180 (massive panoramic) hanging off the garage stopped him from trying to pitch me to "sign up just to hear a little about their products".

I just kept telling him different things to make my point:
"As you can tell I already have cameras"
"I'm probably not your target market"
"No I don't want someone to stop by, I wouldn't ever buy any cameras from you."

He eventually figured it out. I guess I need PTZ with auto track to send the message.

@tech101,
Do you mind sharing your BI settings for this PTZ? I have a large oak tree casting shadows and my 49225 loses tracking in that area. I'm trying to dial it in and would appreciate some screen shots of what you have that works this well.

So I don't have any special setting to track the Subject thru BlueIris. it is actually done from the camera rule..

I actually had @Wildcat_1 who help me dial in the camera. Always Really Thankful to him for dialing it in for me.

Anyhow here are the setting of my cam if it helps.. Also just want to be clear once the subject goes behind a tree my camera also drops the subject all together usually.

I really do not know. My 8MP cameras with the 1/1.2" sensors are working quite well with all the detail available. So, I have not looked at the 4MP versions.
Do you have any night time video from it, I might replace one of my Older PTZ with it..

The two PTZ's are the same as yours. The other 6 8MP cameras are of the bullet style. They are this camera and they work quite well in my situation. DS-2CD2087G2-L(U) | Pro Series (All) | Hikvision
The down side is that with half of them I have had to take them apart and adjust the lens. To me the camera is that good and I do not mind doing that.

Thanks @tech101,
Those settings are going to be very helpful. I'm curious about why you used tripwire instead of intrusion? Does that re-trigger every time someone crosses one of those lines? I have mine set on intrusion, I may play with tripwire like what you show to see if that helps.
Earlier at times I had specially at night when car was parked on the driveway, Camera was picking it up again and again not sure why so changed it to tripwire its been solid since, I also use to have multiple rules so that might have been the issue too and probably not so much the intrusion.

Now I only have1 or 2 max rules on other cams in the setup.. So ever since I been happy with tripwire for this one.. Did not try the intrusion again but tripwire has been pretty solid for me.

Same guy came back today, thought I share another video here..

I think this is a good video demonstrating how not having the tracking target size too large can keep the camera on the object for much longer.

He had slight movement that the camera was able to stay on him even though he wasn't moving.

If it were zoomed in tighter, it probably would have decided the object was no longer moving and revert back to the preset.

I am assuming that at the end when he started walking away, it wasn't that the camera lost track, it was due to either the track time you allowed for that preset in either the camera or BI?

And dang that 4/3 sensor is incredible!

OMG so funny - seeing him talking to himself "WTF, look at this place..... is this camera following me?? Can cameras do that??" LOL..... made my night. At least he appreciated the setup you have!!

I heard a realtor walking by my place saying, "I'm not sure if there's a casino in there" LOL.

I'm so impressed with BI handling my 36 cams with my older i5 PC running at 40% CPU usage - all using sub-streams until triggered.

Thanks

Same here. I want a large sensor PTZ but I don't need anything more than 20-25x zoom. Most are 35+ zoom which would be a waste in my use. I'll wait it out and see. Or one of those multi cam PTZ's.
