Title says it. RJ45 won't say in, so what do I do now. Tried threading down the weatherproofing but it isn't very secure still. Maybe electrical taping but still won't get a good fit. Did I kill my empiretech 4k-T180?

Good news is the important part is still there. Now take the Water proof cap, Take the screw part put over the cable, now take the rubber gasket and put on in front and slide the boot over. Put the rubber in the end with all the teeth and loosely tighten the screw part, Then slide into the RJ45 jack and with the gasket on that which it looks like it is already on there tighten the water proof part over and while pushing the cable into the socket tighten the screw part until tight and cable is now tight and won't come out.

I would just use silicone stretch tape to secure the RJ45 plug into the RJ45 socket .. and then wrap with electrical tape ..

I think you are describing the normal process to put on the weatherproofing unit and saying that will hold the RJ45 in place, correct? Like this shows -- . Or are you saying change something from this? I'm a visual person, thanks.

Yes as in picture, most come setup so the parts can connect even to cables with ends already in place like yours. Adding that part will keep the 2 ends together. Rubber insert squish onto cable and will hold it into connector. I have some the top clip broke off and using the waterproof ends hold it to camera just like it was clipped in.

I ended up just doing this as I had some duluth trading company silicone x-treme tape. was able to wrap it around and stretch it in a downward path to push the rj45 plug in to the "outlet". then I put electrical tape around it (not pictured). Not worried about weatherproofing since I can stuff it in the eaves out of the weather, but it's definitely wrapped up well.

cool, thanks. Feel like when I did that it still had some wiggle in it. The ones that come with the cameras aren't super duper good plastic.
