Hey suzook, did you have any problems with bugs that are attracted to the IR light ?

I tried a few illuminators myself and they were swarmed with bugs to the point that I took them down.

I live in an open field, so that might hurt :)

@Tommy, if your bugs are that bad you might put the illuminators a ways away from your camera and disable the onboard IR, at least they will be attracted away from your camera and you still get a decent night time shot. Just dont put the illuminators near an open door or window.

Ive got a bug zapper near a pair of cameras out of view and it does a decent job of keeping the interest away from the cameras.. the black light makes dust particles glow and a nearby exhaust fan looks quite interesting. (looks like its shooting pixies out)

Nayr,

Guess I'll try moving the illuminators 2 meters from each camera. I have a few zappers myself, they catch a lot (and also make a lot of annoying noise) of bugs, and yet, some bugs aren't attracted to it. Mosquitoes for one, but others aswell.
