Oh that one is easy! If you don't have a power cable to your cam, then it's POE! Is there a chance your NVR is faulty?

I'm sure thats possible but I hope the NVR is ok.

Well I plugged in the power supply & nothing has exploded so far. I don't know if its running on POE or the power supply but it's been very consistent so far.
