I'm assuming the speed is 25 MPH?
I don't have a need for ALPR, but the MPH part is pretty awesome!!! Is that covered in the ALPR thread on here?

Do you have a radar setup, I assume? Is this an off-the-shelf package or did you put the system together yourself?
The radar isn't. It's something I've cobbled together.
I put it together. I got a retired police radar setup off ebay for ~$100 last year. It has a serial connection on the back that I've just recently figured out.
Nice work; I had no idea surplus working units were available as cheaply as that!
You can get very cheap doppler radar components on ebay, but I think they are for short-range indoor motion detector use. For example HB100 Microwave Doppler Radar Wireless Module Motion Sensor 10.525GHz Radar US | eBay

A how-to sounds like an awesome addition to the ALPR forum.
Sweet setup BTW. Personally, I wouldn't bother with the neighbor shaming unless someone starts hitting 60 or something when you'd reasonably expect kids to be around. Then just either go have a talk with them or let the police know that Joe Blow regularly does 60 in a 25 in a residential area every morning at 7:35 on his way to work.

Make a twitter bot that messages the sheriff's office a photo with location and time and license plate any time somebody goes by at >32mph. Won't take too long for them to decide when and where to set a speed trap
That is freaking awesome. Have you checked/confirmed the calibration in any way?
Also, just a safety thing, I've heard those older radar units had some issues with RF Radiation Hazard. You don't want to start BBQing the more curious types in your neighbourhood.
I heard it was brain cancer because they were mounted on the outside of the cars just behind the driver.

I've got a street racing problem that I need to add a couple cams to attempt to cover (not sure I can without putting a ptz in a vulnerable spot and cutting down a tree) and a shooting incident nearby that has me going to the range more often. Radar would be a fun addition, if for no other reason than to trip radar detectors.
This unit is still in production. I put it in the truck and drove around with it. It has a patrol speed display that uses the radar to verify "cruiser" speed. It matched the GPS & speedometer display.

The study I was thinking of was done in the days when they cradled the "gun" in their laps in between shots. After that they recommend mounting them externally.
You need a set of tuning forks to determine if the speed is accurate in stationary and patrol mode on the radar. They have to be assigned to that radar and will more than likely cost more than why you paid for the radar lol
I've been toying with this thought for a while. Our street is short -- 0.2 miles according to Google Maps with a stop sign at either end. Every now and then, someone will go hot dogging down the road, almost treating it like their own 1/4 mile stretch. Sidewalks on the side, always have families out walking with kids, pets, etc. 25 mph zone. The town has a few speed tables set up in other areas that are effective. I questioned what it'd take to partake in township meetings to push for a speed table to get installed on this street to try and cut that down a bit. I'm not the most optimistic that police would do much, given that a neighbor is friends with a cop and the cop is always hanging out front talking while on shift. A number of times I've heard a car with a loud motor wind up and bomb down the road, clearly approaching twice the limit, meanwhile the cop doesn't even look -- just keeps talking. Given that situation, my next idea was to provide some degree of actual proof of the frequency of speeders in hopes that maybe the speed table could become a thing via the township.
In "moving" mode - there is a possibility that the radar unit incorrectly calculates the police vehicles speed and subsequently, the speed of the 'violator's vehicle will be greatly increased. That is why when you 'lock' violators speed in, it will lock the police vehicles speed and display it also (to help eliminate operator error).
