Intel i7-3770 or 3770s

Hi,

I am able to buy 2nd CPUs 3rd Generation type: Ivy Bridge.
But I cannot decide which one to buy.

Intel i7-3770 TDP = 77 Watts vs 3770s TDP = 65 Watts
Although electricity is not very expensive to generate at my place.
Comparing the two CPUs in terms of price, there is a $30 dollars
price difference, which is no much a huge one.

Would it be wise to go for the i7-3770 ?

Yes, I am in favour of the i7-3770......

But any real reason why i7-3770s is not being considered?
After all, there is no huge difference? Except for the TDP

Intel CPU models with an S or T are just speed-limited versions made for the purpose of working properly with smaller or cheaper cooling solutions. They are not actually all that much more efficient; they just can't run as fast, and therefore can't generate as much heat. Which one is best for you depends on what you find available on ebay at what price, condition, etc, and how much of a load you were planning to put on it, and how much space you have.

performance & power consumption(under loading) differences
between an i7-4790 vs i7-4790s: Introduction to Intel S-series Processors

I can conclude that....if you want long term power saving at the expense of slightly lower performance, then go for the "S" version.
If you demand higher performance vs slightly less efficient CPU, then go for the "non-S" version.

As I mentioned earlier in my thread, this information can be applied to draw the same conclusion
to the intel i7-3770 vs 3770s.

All in all, under real-life testing, the power saving is not significant enough when comparing with 3770 and 3770s

Yes, better off.....just spend $30 more to get the i7-3770 cpu instead......

It is interesting that S model ended up drawing more power than the non-S when doing workloads of 4 or fewer threads. You might assume that means the power savings don't really apply until the system is very heavily loaded.

After reading it, I took it as a grain of salt.

But who do you trust more? Intel ? or Puget?

I will leave it up to you to answer, because I have already made up my mind.
