This is an interesting report, IMO, from CBC/Radio-Canada, a Canadian public broadcaster. I find their test results interesting. Other than the test results of the batteries, it's concerning that the Canadians are paying a "Recycling" fee at the time of the initial purchase of batteries, but currently the collected used batteries are being shipped outside of Canada to Michigan to be recycled! In other words, the fee collected at the time of purchase is NOT spent in Canada at a local business but instead they are shipped outside their country, expending more fuel for trucks, somewhat negating the ever-elusive eco-benefits. This proves that bureaucracy, whether it be in U.S. or Canada, can be and is usually self-promoting, wasteful, illogical but mostly, unnecessary.
