OK I've searched and could not find what I was looking for sorry if it is stickied somewhere. Anyway I remember people always telling me when getting an NVR always get an authentic US version and it is OK to get the chinese converted cams. However I do not remember why and was curious if someone could fill me in on why getting an international/multi language hik nvr is a bad idea.

thanks

Just make sure model number says "NI" not "N" that is so you can upgrade the firmware which is a best practice. I would add though that if you were say putting the NVR in a cottage in the woods with no internet access or ever upgrading anything like cameras etc then the N may work out for a few years.
