introduction and advice for simple setup

Hi Guys

Glad I found your site, I'm not looking for serious security I just like to tinker about. I'm hoping to set up a IP cam at my front door and backyard. This is what I'm hoping to do but really not sure where to start or even if its possible.

I'd like two IP cams one front door and one back yard. I don't want to record video but would like to broadcast video to at least a website but hopefully also android phone/tablet. A Roku channel would be amazing!(doubt that exists).

A motion sensor that takes pictures instead of recording video.

I'd like to run the software on a hyper-v installation preferably Linux based, but could be windows.

Would be grateful to know if such a set up is at all possible and where I might start.

Welcome and Hi,

Better quality IP cameras have better features. I am still learning, so I can't yet answer many of those questions.
