IP cameras (R6) reset IP after reboot

Hello to all,

I would like to point it out a strange behavior in my NVR + cameras chains:

1) NVR DS-7616NI-I2/16P
2) some DS-2CD2T22WD-i5 and some 2CD2322WD-i

NVR and cameras ares connected as described in attached image.

2 camera are connected to POE NVR port, 2 other cameras are in local network without POE.

All works well, cameras are able to ping internet (email, FTP, NTP ecc).
SADP showed the NVR 2 times, with standard 192.168.254.1 IP and with new 10.102.1.30 IP.

The problem is: if a camera is rebooted (energy down, new firmware etc), both NVR POE connected and not, the camera IP is "resetted" to 192.168.254.x (and gateway 0.0.0.0). Cameras still work, but NVR detect another IP and manage it as different camera (different local storage etc) and the camera are no more able to go to internet (email, FTP ...). So I need to change manually with SADP to correct IP and all works well.

DHCP is disable in both NVR and cameras.
Multicast in cameras is enabled (no multicast address). It could be useful ?

Any advices ?

Thank you very much in advance !

You have an unusual network topology, using the switch ports on the 10.102.1.254 router to connect together the NVR PoE network (192.168.254.0) and the NVR LAN 10.102.1.0 network.
That is why :
SADP showed the NVR 2 times, with standard 192.168.254.1 IP and with new 10.102.1.30 IP.
The NVR has 2 interfaces, PoE interface and LAN interface, now both accessible on the same wiring.
And it is also why when you have cameras connected to the NVR PoE ports that they can be used by the NVR when they have a LAN IP address - they would usually have a PoE port IP address.
The problem is: if a camera is rebooted (energy down, new firmware etc), both NVR POE connected and not, the camera IP is "resetted" to 192.168.254.x (and gateway 0.0.0.0).
Maybe this is because of the order in which the NVR processes the 'found' available cameras, the 192.168.254.0 address first.
With no valid default gateway the camera cannot communicate outside the network segment of its IP address.
Cameras still work, but NVR detect another IP and manage it as different camera
With a different IP address, to the NVR this is a different camera.

What is the reason for connecting one of the NVR PoE ports to the router?

Well, because I tried different way to permit to a camera to have access to external internet ... but I didn't realize how to implement it ...

I read about ipforward in other messages, but with no success ... :-(

This topology maybe you are right ... is quite strange ... :-) but is works at 90% ... all works apart the ip reset .... :-(

Thank you for your reply.

Just 3 requirements for cameras connected to NVR PoE ports to connect to the internet, and be directly accessible from the LAN:
Enable 'Virtual Host' on the NVR.
On cameras connected to the NVR PoE ports, with IP addresses in the 192.168.254.0 range matching that used by the NVR channel they are connected to, use the NVR PoE interface IP address for the default gateway, 192.168.254.1
On the LAN router/gateway define a 'static route' to inform LAN-connected devices how to reach the NVR PoE port connected cameras, something like:
"For network 192.168.254.0 (mask 255.255.255.0) use the NVR LAN interface IP address (10.102.1.30) as the gateway"

Thank yo uvery much for your response.

But I have 2 concern:

1) Unfortunately my "router" (and DHCP server) is a Ubiquiti AirGrid M5HP with very limited configurations ... I think that I cannot set "static route" :-((
2) I supposed that my topology was not so good, but the camera 10.102.1.33 and 34 are connected via switch to the 10.102.1.x LAN .... they are not connected to the POE port, no problem with internet BUT they loose the IP like all the other ! do you think is due the double connection to the NVR ?

Many many thanks !
